Obituaries

We will never forget them.....
Attilla KARAOSMANOĞLU (I.M.'54), a brilliant economist.
 
(Manisa, 1931 - Nov 10, 2013)

Karaosmanoğlu was former vice-chairman of the World Bank and the deputy prime minister of Turkey in 1971.

 

He died from respiratory insufficiency on November 10. He was 82.


 

Prof. Yavuz Sabuncu (K.Y.'70), a pioneer in constitutional law.
 
(Istanbul, 1948 - Feb 12, 2007)

Prof. Sabuncu came to the Faculty of Political Sciences in 1976. He served with distinction as chair of the Department of Public Administration.

 

He passed away from cancer in Houston, TX at 59.


 

Nurcan Aktürk (İ.M.'68), an outstanding career path.
 
(Istanbul, 1948 - Aug 9, 2024)

Mr. Aktürk served as the General Director of Public Finance at the Turkish Treasury Department and as an Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank, representing Turkey on the Boards of the World Bank, the IMF, and MIGA in Washington, DC. He also worked as the Chairman and CEO of Koçbank Azerbaijan.

 

He passed away in Maryland, MD, at 76.
