Ayça Karaca, conducter of several economic researches, became a columnist on Finans Gundem and Borsa Gundem "Yazarlar" page in 2012 after joining a doctorate program as gifted student in international relations at the Middle East Technical University for the 2011-12 academic years.

 

She began her career in 1998 as an assistant expert for the Undersecretariat of Treasury, General Directorate of Public Finance, where she later received a master’s degree in international economic policy from Columbia University in New York.

 

As a Treasury Senior Associate at the Treasury Domestic Debt Activities and Statistics Department, she has been responsible for all the domestic debt service (payment) operations and preparation of the debt payment projections according to macro economic indicators and financial environment.

 

She has also worked in the World Bank Projects Department General Directorate of Foreign Economic Relations at the Treasury as well. She has been responsible for doing all coordination with the relevant agencies during the project preparation, implementation and monitoring periods also  international credit negotiations with  the World Bank.

 

She has  coordinated and executed EU Funds Financial Management Department  at the General Directorate of Foreign Economic Relations in the  Undersecretariat of Treasury. As the Head of Financial Management Department, she has  been responsible for coordination and supervision of the financial management of EU funds through extensive contact with EU and national authorities. She has also  provided  assistance to the execution of services in the National Fund Department by managing EU funds’ financial data and providing support to the implementation of relevant EU funded Project activities.  

 

In September 2010 she has worked as an Economic Research Manager at the General Directorate of Akbank in Istanbul. She has provided contributions to the execution of services at the  Economic Research Department. While preparing and carrying out research papers, analytical papers  related to domestic and  international macro economic developments, she has also contributed to the organisation of meeting or conferences and prepare reports, speeches,  presentations of the top management of Akbank.

 

Born in Izmir, Ms. Karaca received B.A. degree in International Relations from the Faculty of Political Science, Ankara University  in 1997.
